Moray MP, Angus Robertson, and MSP, Richard Lochhead, have joined the SNP Finance Secretary John Swinney MSP at Horizons in the Forres Enterprise Park where it was announced that Moray had been successful in a bid for more than 800,000 pounds of European Structural Funding. Also announced was the news that major IT services company ATOS is to open a new development site at Kinloss bringing 50 high quality jobs to the area. Welcoming the news Angus Robertson MP said: “ This announcement of European funding, which is aimed at boosting Moray’s economic prospects is extremely welcome. “ It will provide funding for a range of prospects across Moray, including renewables, learning centres, business units and support of the Grant Lodge project in Elgin. “ The further announcement of 50 jobs by ATOS is further excellent news for Forres and follows on from the recent announcement of 100 new jobs by Capita, who are already operating at the Forres Enterprise Park. “ ATOS are a major multinational company specialising in IT services provision and the development jobs they are bringing to Moray are incredibly important in helping the area recover from the major downsizing of RAF Kinloss as it transitions to an army base.” Richard Lochhead MSP said: “ The Scottish Government are continuing to support Moray’s recovery from the blow inflicted by the Strategic Defence Review. Despite that major reduction in manpower at Kinloss this has now been offset by several major jobs announcements, including the 50 announced this week by the multi-national company ATOS. “ This is an early Christmas present! These jobs are high skill, high value employment which will put a significant amount of money into the local economy. “ European funding for a range of economic interventions has also been announced, which will see investment in skills development work and in providing vital business space right across Moray. “ A great deal of work has gone on behind the scenes between the Scottish Government and Moray’s public bodies and that work is clearly paying off for Forres and the wider Moray economy.” |
