Friday, 18 November 2011 00:00
BaxtersNews of Baxters Food Group’s acquisition of the Fray Bentos business and brand has been welcomed by SNP representatives in Moray.

Richard Lochhead MSP said:

“ It is fantastic to see a major local brand like Baxters going from strength to strength. Not only is this an important expansion of business for the company but it also means a variety of new jobs at the company’s Fochabers base.

Angus Robertson MP said:

“ Baxters has resisted a multitude of takeovers over the years and made a number of key acquisitions of well-known heritage food brands that have cemented its own reputation. I am very pleased to hear that this will bring a significant number of new jobs to the Fochabers site as manufacturing of the bulk of Fray Bentos products shifts to the area.”

Local SNP Councillor for Fochabers Lhanbryde, Anita McDonald, herself a former Baxters employee said:

“ Baxters are a good company to work for and I am absolutely delighted that more jobs are set to come to the factory in Moray. I have many family and friends who work for the company and this announcement not only brings new jobs but gives security to the hundreds of employees already there. It is great to see Baxters continuing to reach new heights of success.”
