MP, MSP & CLLR, CITE ‘EXCEPTIONAL BRAVERY’ Two Moray police officers, PC Nicholas Boyd (41) and PC Enoch Stickings (33), formed part of a group of 30 people from across Scotland who have received National Bravery Awards. The two PCs risked their lives to evacuate a caravan park in Keith after reports of explosion and gave first aid to five people with severe burns before ambulances arrived. Their commitment to serving their communities in the most extreme of circumstances has been praised by Moray’s MSP Richard Lochhead, MP Angus Robertson and local SNP Councillor for Keith & Cullen, Gary Coull. The SNP’s Mr Lochhead said: “ The explosion and fire at the caravan site was a horrific event with several individuals severely injured. The actions of these two police officers, who brought immediate aid to those injured until paramedics arrived and protected other members of the public, showed exceptional bravery in the most challenging circumstances. Angus Robertson MP said: “ I know from the reports of constituents in Keith that the explosion and fire at the caravan site was an intense and terrifying experience for those involved. The first thoughts of the two police officers who responded were clearly for the safety of others and they acted quickly and bravely to provide as much help as they could until further aid arrived.” Local Councillor for Keith & Cullen Ward Gary Coull said: “ Fire is one of the most frightening things anyone could experience and the quick-thinking and bravery of PCs Boyd and Stickings in the very difficult circumstances they faced helped to stabilise the victims and prevent further casualties ahead of the arrival of other emergency services. It is good to see them being rewarded for their bravery.” |
