Moray MSP Richard Lochhead, MP Angus Robertson and local Forres SNP Councillor Irene Ogilvie have praised Forres in Bloom for their success on several fronts in this year’s prestigious Britain in Bloom competition.
Forres took a Gold Award in the Town Category. One of only 20 Gold Awards across all categories from over 1,000 entries. In addition Forres has scooped 2 Discretionary Awards - The RHS Britain in Bloom Young People’s Award went to the ‘Wee FIBbees’ and a Community Champion Award was given to Forres’ John Keenlyside. Welcoming the success Richard Lochhead MSP said: “ Forres in Bloom is once again celebrating a major success in what is one of the biggest floral competitions in the world. “ The hard work of volunteers, support from the Council and the efforts of people of all ages is simply fantastic and they very much deserve this success.” Angus Robertson MP said: “ Forres has done it once again! Over the years Forres in Bloom has won many prestigious awards and it is that consistent ability to reach the highest levels of floral competition that sets the town apart. “ It is particularly good to see discretionary awards made to John Keenlyside and to the Wee FIBbees recognising their special contribution. All in all an especially good year for Forres in Bloom!” Forres SNP Councillor Irene Ogilvie said: “ Britain in Bloom celebrates the efforts made by over 1,000 communities and Forres continues be at the forefront of the competition. “ I cannot praise enough the huge efforts put in by volunteers both young and old in the Forres area to maintain Forres as such an important destination for flower lovers. It is a huge asset to the town which continues to drive in a very significant amount of tourism.” |
