Moray’s MP Angus Robertson & MSP Richard Lochhead have welcomed news of two Big Lottery Fund awards in Moray totalling £4,639.


The first award of £1,249 goes to 5th Forres Brownie Unit to enable them to purchase a mess tent.

The second award of £3,390 goes to Elgin Youth Development Group who arerunning a Summer programme of educational and recreational activities for local young people. The award will fund materials for cookery classes, drama workshops and competition day; activity provider/tutor costs for outdoor activities, circus skills workshop, football camp, aerial skills workshops and canoe expedition; transport costs; venue hire; volunteer expenses and participants' lunches for visits to other youth organisations.

Welcoming the news Angus Robertson MP said:

“ It is great to see youth organisations in Moray delivering successful projects and getting the support to do so from the Big Lottery Fund.

“ The Brownies and Elgin Youth Development Group are well-established and have built a reputation for providing excellent education and productive leisure opportunities for our young people and the funding is thoroughly deserved.”

Richard Lochhead MSP said:

“ I am pleased to have been able to support many youth organisations in Moray in their activities and it is good to see further successes for organisations in that category.

“ Youth organisations like the Brownies and the Youth Development Group put in a significant amount of time and effort to raise funds for their activities and it is great to see them getting a further boost in funding from the Big Lottery Fund. I wish them all the best in their continued efforts.”
