Moray’s MP, Angus Robertson, and MSP, Richard Lochhead have welcomed the awarding of three Big Lottery Fund grants in Moray.
Lennox Community Council has received £1,920 to organise a football league in Fochabers and run training activities for 20 weeks.
Hopeman Community Association has received £300 for an orienteering event and Keith & District Amateur Athletic Club has received an award of £1,846 to purchase a wide range of equipment that will enable them to establish a junior section in the club.
Welcoming the awards Richard Lochhead MSP said:
“ The 2014 Communities awards are linked to the Commonwealth Games and are important in supporting grass roots sports activity in our communities and larger legacy projects.
“ It is great to see Community Groups in Fochabers, Hopeman and Keith developing and growing their activities base and building programmes and events that encourage young people especially to be active in sports.”
Angus Robertson MP said:
“ The Big Lottery Fund is providing an important range of funds that are supporting community projects across Moray. The efforts made by community groups to develop projects that can access this funding is great example of the importance of these groups and the volunteers in them deserve every credit.
“ Groups like the Lennox Community Council, Hopeman Community Association and the Keith & District Amateur Athletic Club are creating real opportunities for youngsters to get active and get involved in sport.”
