MORAY MP CELEBRATES 10 YEARS IN OFFICE WITH NEW FORRES COLLEAGUE PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 08 June 2011 00:00

The 7th June 2011 was the 10th anniversary of the 2001 General Election when Angus Robertson was first elected as MP for Moray.

Angus Robertson MP is pictured with new Westminster SNP staff colleague Paul Hughes from Forres. Paul, who is at St Andrews University attended Forres Academy and Gordonstoun School.

Speaking about the 10th Anniversary Angus Robertson MP said:

“It is a tremendous honour to have represented Moray at Westminster for the last decade. The time has flown by and is particularly exciting following the recent spectacular SNP victory. There is plenty of work to do given the closure announcement  of RAF Kinloss and continuing threat to RAF Lossiemouth. With the prospects of an independence referendum in the next years we hopefully won’t need to send MPs to Westminster in the near future."

Paul Hughes from Forres who just started working at the SNP Whips office in Westminster said:

“I am delighted to be working with Angus Robertson MP at this exciting time for Scotland. There is a real sense of change and improvement for the country which I am pleased to be part of. Moray is facing a lot of challenges, particularly with the defence cuts, but Angus is a strong advocate for Forres, Kinloss and the whole Moray community. I’m heavily focussed on policy development and the government program at Westminster and Holyrood. The hours are long but it is extremely worthwhile."

The UK Coalition Government plans to introduce new legislation that would enable widespread surveillance of email, phone calls and social media such as Facebook. The SNP are opposed to security services having such wide-ranging powers. What do you think?
