MSP & MP WELCOME ANNOUNCEMENT OF WATER CHARGES TO REMAIN STEADY PDF Print E-mail

SNP MSP for Moray, Richard Lochhead, and MP, Angus Robertson, have welcomed the announcement by Scottish Water’s that combined water and waste water service charges will remain at current levels for households across Scotland during 2011/2012.

Welcoming the hold on charges local MSP Mr Lochhead said:


“ In these financially difficult times this is good news for hard pressed families and shows that the Scottish Government has been overseeing our public finances effectively.


“ With plans to deliver a Council Tax freeze these charges will be a welcome relief to many families and households in Moray.”


Angus Robertson MP said:


“ As Westminster ups taxes with VAT and fuel duty rises the Scottish Government is doing everything possible to help all households.


“ The announcement by Scottish Water underlines that hard work and we will continue to make every effort to protect hard-pressed families who are bearing the brunt of Tory budget cuts and tax rises.”
