Moray MP Angus Robertson and MSP Richard Lochhead have congratulated Elgin Rotary Club on the significant achievement of being given the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.
Angus Robertson MP said:
“Elgin Rotary Club has a long running and comprehensive record of community and fundraising activity. While people in Moray very familiar with activities like Marafun and Motorfun they Rotary Club also do a great deal to support international projects. They have been particularly active supporting Nepalese communities over the years, which is especially notable given the recent earthquake.
“My congratulations on achieving the accolade of the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service go to everyone involved in Elgin Rotary both past and present as it is the result of continuous effort in the community over a long time.”
Richard Lochhead MSP said:
“I’d like to offer my warmest congratulations to Elgin Rotary Club on receiving the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service. The club and its committed volunteers thoroughly deserve this recognition for support they have provided to an incredible number of local projects and the sums of money they have raised for good causes over decades.
“It seems apt that this announcement has been made the same week that the Marafun takes place – one of the fantastic charitable events organised by the club – and I hope the community will help them celebrate this award by turning out in huge numbers to support their fundraising efforts.”
